  • Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala expects the EU two-day summit to agree on Ukraine’s candidacy as an expression of solidarity, though the accession process will be neither fast nor easy. Fiala also said the key to the shift in the integration of the Balkan countries in the European Union was unblocking the tension between North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

  • The Czech nanosatellite VZLUSAT-1 developed by the Czech Aerospace Research Centre (VZLU) marks its fifth year in orbit today, which makes it the longest-orbiting Czech satellite. Even though the original lifespan estimate was about a year, the institute says all the systems of the satellite are still fully working.

 

  • Speaking after a meeting in Brussels with the head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the Czech prime minister, Petr Fiala, said that the Czech Republic had essentially exhausted the supply of weapons that it could donate to Ukraine.
