Raleigh, N.C. — WakeMed is hosting a vaccine clinic for the youngest children who are now eligible for a three-dose coronavirus vaccine course from Pfizer.
Children ages 6 months to 4 years old can receive a vaccine on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WakeMed Andrews Conference Center at 3024 New Bern Avenue.
Appointments are required to receive a vaccine. To schedule an appointment, hospital officials said you must make an appointment on MyChart, which can be accessed through the WakeMed app or WakeMed’s website.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorized the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Previously, only children 5 and older were eligible for a vaccine.
The Moderna vaccine will be given in two doses, one month apart. The Pfizer vaccine will be given in a three-dose series, with the first two doses given three weeks apart and the third dose given two months after the second dose.
First COVID-19 vaccine doses for children under five arrived in North Carolina this week.
