This is based on the true story of a Jewish family during World War II who were separated all over the world. It is a deeply moving, gripping, and heartbreaking story of love, family, and perseverance against all odds.
- Unbroken — This book was one of my top reads in 2016! I listened to the audiobook and now know why so many people have raved about it! We went to the movie back at the end of 2014 and the book was definitely every bit as good as the movie. Such a powerful, powerful true story of courage and forgiveness. Highly recommended!
- The Best Yes — I read this as part of my morning devotions several years ago and really found it helpful as I thought through my priorities and goals.
- Daring Greatly – This book was on my top 10 books list I read in 2013. It impacted me deeply and my life will never be the same as a result. In fact, I was so challenged by it that I had a necklace made that I wear almost all the time as a reminder.
- Waymaker — I have loved Ann Voskamp’s other books, and this one did not disappoint. It’s the beautifully raw story of their marriage struggles, health struggles, adoption journey, and walking alongside a medically fragile child. Woven throughout is Ann’s story of learning to trust God and others more deeply and of seeing God’s faithfulness — even when things feel overwhelming and scary.
- The Jesus Storybook Bible — Kierstyn and I read this book together at the beginning of 2022. I’m not sure how may times I’ve read it because I usually read it through with each of our kids when they are little at least twice, but every single time I re-read it, I love it again. I love that it shows how all of the Bible points to Jesus. The Old Testament isn’t just stories; it’s a framework that sets up the need for a Redeemer. Each story represents our need for a Savior.
