Watch me on Central Texas Gardener

by NORTH CAROLINA DIGITAL NEWS

September 23, 2025

I’m excited to be on PBS show Central Texas Gardener this fall, talking about the resilient gardens in my new book, Gardens of Texas! My episode premiers on television on October 11 (dates vary by station), but it’s already available online. Check it out on YouTube or at PBS.org (where my segment begins at the 10:35 mark).

Or watch it right here!

My thanks to superstar producer Linda Lehmusvirta for inviting me back on the show to talk about my new book, and to host John Hart Asher and the whole production crew for welcoming me on set.

My book Gardens of Texas features 27 gardens from across the state, beautifully photographed by Kenny Braun — including John Hart Asher’s own wonderfully wild prairie garden. It was a treat to get to know him better during the writing of my book.

This season marks the 30th year that Central Texas Gardener has been on the air. You read that right — 30 years! What an achievement for Linda and everyone at CTG.

I’ve learned so much over the years from this show, which always starts with a garden visit, then a studio interview, and then how-to info. Inspiration, knowledge, and practical tips — it’s all here in 26-minute episodes.

Check it out if you’re not already a devoted Central Texas Gardener fan. You will be.

And about that book…Gardens of Texas will be in stores on October 14th, and it’s available for pre-order now. Or you can get a signed copy directly from me at my events across Texas this fall. I humbly suggest it’ll make an excellent holiday gift for the Texan or garden/nature lover who has everything.

Join me for Jill Nooney’s Garden Spark talk on October 9th

Austinites, I invite you to my next Garden Spark event in northwest Austin on October 9th. Artist, gardener, and author Jill Nooney of Bedrock Gardens will speak about her acclaimed New Hampshire garden, and I can’t wait to see her photos and get inspired by her gardening magic. You may wonder what a New England garden has to teach us here in Texas, and I’ll tell you. Like any garden created with passion and creativity, it teaches us to TRY and experiment and risk failure, and to delight in the beauty, humor, and life stories that result. Come join us!

Tickets available here

Garden Spark is open to the public. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
