I honestly don’t know how to feel after the end of this episode, I truly feel so awful for Cal. I love Maggie but this whole episode just made me want better for Cal. There clearly had to be something in the kiss otherwise she would have told him at the top of the episode even if he didn’t have time because of everything going on with Ben. Especially with those flashbacks for her, I wonder who she will want to pick.
Moving off of the Maggie triangle for the moment it was really nice to see Syd and Amir’s relationship develop. They seem to hold a lot of the same values and they have definitely come a long way since they first met. It was hilarious watching Amir be a city boy and wanting to wash his hands the moment that he got fish on his hands. I am really looking forward to seeing how their relationship flourishes, I highly doubt that Rob’s warnings to stay away will deter her.
Frank and Edna going to the weekly circle really reminded me of the first season when we were seeing who Frank and Edna were. Seeing their culture and learning where they come from was great back then and to see them rediscover that life again was so nice to see.
The relationship between Cal and Sedona is so special. The fact that they had such a tough upbringing but they can now rely on each other in times of need. However this visit felt very different, there were some unsaid words in their conversations. I do think that Cal possibly jumped to conclusions that Chris was the one to cheat, at no point did Sedona actually confirm that and she very quickly defended the notion of cheating when Cal said that he couldn’t forgive it.
The performance from Emerson MacNeil (Tracy) in the scene with Maggie was incredible, the raw emotion was beaming through the screen and it honestly made me a little emotional. Tracy just wants her life to go back to how it used to be and have her mother and brother back in it. I think Ben tried to hide a lot of what was going on so that Tracy wouldn’t have to bear the brunt of any of it. I am incredibly interested to see what is going to happen to Ben and Tracy after this trial ends.
Cal this whole episode was such a noble man and it was such a hard watch knowing what he didn’t. The fact that he even went out of his way to apologise to Liam despite being aware that Liam most likely still had feelings for Maggie. He was willing to put everything behind them and be civil with each other. It massively broke my heart when Cal’s voice came from off screen “What Kiss”, it was only two words but it was so heavy with emotion.
There is clearly going to be a very big fallout from this situation and I cannot wait to see what the damage will be, I love Cal and Maggie together but she really does need to figure out how she feels about Liam before she breaks Cal’s heart more than she already has.
